On Monday the 27th of April, the Senior room attended The Connemara Science Fair in The Clifden Town Hall. The children did a fantastic job presenting their project and even had the opportunity to meet the Education Minister Hildergarde Naughton. We were also delighted to meet with Phil and Fran Whalen who have been very generously funding the Science Program for the last 13 years. Special thanks to Declan our science tutor, for the great work that he did with us this year and thanks to Marie Bourke who did a fantastic job co-ordinating the whole program.
Yesterday we were delighted to complete our Swift Bird Boxes Project. Our bird boxes were generously sponsored by Sorcha O’ Toole- GRETB Letterfrack. We had fantastic guidance from Swift Conservation Ireland expert, Lynda Huxley and Lynda did an informative talk with the whole school. Thanks to Cleggan Tidy Towns who also kindly sponsored the cost of the cherry picker. Special thanks to Claude Reichard for being a driving force behind this project and we are very grateful to him for his wonderful organisation and co-ordination. Yesterday, the whole school did a Spring Clean of the area. The Juniors went from the school to past Sweeneys and the Seniors went from the school to Omey. We gathered several bags of litter. Well done on everyone helping to keep our beautiful area clean! #Greenschool
Congratulations to all of our pupils who made their First Holy Communion on Saturday. Thanks to Fr. George for the lovely mass and big thanks to Ms. O’ Malley for the great work she did in preparing them for their special day. Also thank you to all of the children who came to sing in the choir.
Yesterday, 5th and 6th Class did a very interesting First Aid course with Robert King from King Safety. We are very grateful to Robert for giving up his time to do this informative course with the children.
On Thursday last week, the Senior Room had a walk of the whole of Omey Island. We were so lucky to have our walk on such a beautiful day.
Claddaghduff N.S was delighted to participate in The Claddaghduff St. Patricks Day Parade. Our theme was ‘Where’s Wally in Co. Galway’. Well done to everyone for making a fantastic effort. The children had a great time and thanks to Geraldine for all of her hard work organising the event.
The Junior Room had lots of fun making St. Patrick’s Day buns with Ms. O’ Malley. A lovely Friday treat!
We made a great start to our reading buddies groups which started today, ‘World Book Day’. All the children in the school chose a book from the World Book Day list of books earlier in the week and they brought home their new books today. Special thanks to Catherine in The Clifden Bookshop for kindly preparing the books for us!
The junior room took advantage of the beautiful day to go on a spring walk to investigate all the signs of spring around us! Followed by a play on the beach !
